The company has officially announced that it will call its upcoming meeting service Meet, the “new name for a popular tool,” although it still promises a consistent experience with the old Google Hangout service. According to this announcement, the app was originally called G Meet, but after several changes — including adding the capability to include multiple screens, change background color, and more — the search giant decided that having two apps would be better for users.

Meet is already available through an Android app for iOS devices. It can also be accessed on desktop computers and iPhones from Windows. You can now sign up for one of these accounts if you want to access the feature in your browser or on your phone. In addition to being compatible with existing Apple and Mac OS versions, Googlers says that there are additional features that can be added to enhance your overall experience, such as video conferencing capabilities, offline functionality, and cloud-based management for different types of groups. While both the iPhone and Mac app will remain unchanged, the web version will receive a switch from chrome to ChromeOS app for all users. If you opt to use either website version, then you’ll have the option to select between local storage space, the built-in storage for file sharing with other applications, and cloud storage. Googlers explains that in order to keep track of how many people are logged into a single account, you have to open each individual account in the ChromeOS App Store. If you don’t want to do so, then you can download the free alternative for yourself to avoid any kind of issue. For some users, choosing the more traditional method is best for simplicity. Some may find that Google Meet’s interface is rather simple. However, if you prefer to stay out of the app, you have the ability to download a Chromium overlay, which provides various customization options like background image, whiteboard display, etc.

The new Meet app allows individuals who meet on the platform, to send their messages to a group as well, and even connect with more than one person at once. To make things simpler, a chat tab will be available where participants can share and edit information in real time while they are connected. Users can also create an unlimited number of groups by selecting “Add New Group.” They can choose to add contacts from within their contact list, or they can do so using specific criteria like location or device. This means that when someone joins a group, other members can see them instantly. Furthermore, you can organize meetings as you see fit, by setting the duration and location. When you start organizing a meeting, you can also set up the date and venue of the event so everyone knows that it is taking place.

This brings us to the main question; why go for another solution? Well, Googlers says that people’s attention span is becoming shorter, meaning that it makes sense to have a more conventional approach, instead of trying something new. Moreover, not only does it offer the same user experience as current offerings, but it can also be used anywhere, whether it is done by using just Google Maps, accessing our calendars, and so on. So, yes, maybe we should reconsider our decision to purchase another calendar or a productivity app, especially because we are going back to work for most of the country. There might be no other reason than this one!
